Charles Sullivan has been a Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network since 1975. Before becoming a Financial Representative, he was a teacher and clinical psychologist.
When asked about his career change to the Network, Chuck states:
"After three years of working for the state, I never quite connected to my work. I wanted a career that would be meaningful and allow flexibility. I was referred to The Network for a career change which would allow me to work with motivated people--People who were anxious to provide for their family and themselves in the event of death or disability."
Chuck finds the greatest rewards in his career are the independence and financial opportunities. He states that having independence can also be a challenge, as you need to learn to discipline yourself and focus on the long term. Overcoming these challenges has taught him the need for structure.
When asked to offer some career advice, he states, "Do exactly as you are told. Buy into the 'system.' Don't take shortcuts. This is a career which is great for the right person. Northwestern Mutual is a company with world class products, high values, and a positive concern for clients due to the mutual company philosophy."
Chuck supports his local community and has been active with the following organizations:
- Past President of Blessed Sacrament Parent Teacher Organization.
- Past President of Althoff Fathers and Friends Club.
- Chairman Althoff Golf Tournament.
- Past Board Member East Side Life Underwriters.
- St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He resides in Belleville with his wife Sandy and four children: Shawn, Matthew, Patrick and Shannon. He has one daughter-in-law, Beth and one grandson, Michael.
Outside of work, he enjoys golf, family activities and just about all sports.
